McHenry Sportsman’s Club Newsletter (December 2007)
REMINDER - Shooting stops at 4PM until March 1st due to sunset at 4:30PM.
CLUB STATUS - In July, 2007 the property the Club leases was purchased by a Land Trust.
The property is now managed by JE&G, Inc., a management company.
The President of JE&G, Inc., Joe Peto, lives in the area and is actively interested in shooting sports.
He has assured the Board that the new owners of the property want to have the Club to continue in operation,
and are prepared to work closely with us to that end.
As we enter the Club's 61st year of operation we can expect that the Club will continue to operate for many years.
ELECTIONS - Elections for officers for 2008 will be held on January 1, 2008 at the Hang Over Shoot starting at 12:00 PM.
The officers and directors that make up the board are responsible for the overall management of the Club,
and are a critical component to the success of the Club.
There are several openings for officers and board positions that will need to be filled.
(A list of open positions is available at the Club.)
Board members are expected to attend the monthly Club meeting on the first Thursday of the month,
and be available for other assignments that may be needed to manage the Club.
It takes a few hours of your time each month to ensure that the club continues to operate efficiently and successfully.
HANGOVER SHOOT - Tuesday, January 1 starting at 10AM.
A 50 target Jack Rabbit event is planned.
Practice traps will be open all day.
Bring a dish to pass - anything from a bag of chips to your own special concoction.
If you've never attended the Hang Over Shoot you've missed a great day of shooting and, more importantly, eating.
The food is really amazing at the Hang Over Shoot!!!
JACK RABBIT - The Winter Jack Rabbit is on.
The first event is at Sycamore on January 6th.
If you haven't shot the Jack Rabbit you're missing out on a lot of fun and the chance to make a few bucks.
More info is available at the Club.
CLUB OPENING - Expect that the Club will be open more days in 2008.
Plan on shooting with us on Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Friday after Thanksgiving, and other days to be determined.
We are considering being open one day during the week.
If this is of interest to you please let Chuck Sandlin know.
